Khadi Lokta Gift Tags 5 x 12cm
Khadi Papers, based in the UK, have their own papermill just outside the village of Tarihal, in Karnataka, South India, producing cotton rag papers. They import some of the very finest Himalayan papers from Nepal and Bhutan. In the early 1980s, Khadi were the first to introduce Indian handmade papers to artists and designers in Europe and the US.
Coming from an art school background, they were interested in paper as an artists' material and this remains the focus of what they do. Handmade papers are made sheet by sheet, not in a continuous roll. The Lokta Gift Tags are made of the bark fibre of Lokta (Daphne bholua), a renewable resource, reharvested every 3-4 years and are produced using local dyes.
