Caran d'Ache Neocolor II Water-Soluble Wax Pastel

Established in 1924 by Arnold Schweitzer, Caran d’Ache takes its name from a leading Russian artist of the time, Emmanuel Poiré, in whose native tongue, 'Karandash', means 'a pencil'. Whether or not either knew, the true origins come from the Turkish 'Kara tash', meaning 'black stone'; the natural pigment that makes marks. The Neocolor II Water-Soluble Wax Crayon is highly versatile, soft enough to be used either dry, or mixed with water to create a watercolour paint.

More Detail

Due to their strong pigments, most of the colours are highly opaque meaning that lighter colours can be worked over darker colours. Colour can also be built up in layers and then scraped away to reveal the underlying layer. A great range of intense colours are available.
